Presentations

This is a list of the presentations that I’ve given (or am scheduled to give).

As it currently stands, I have only made presentations for my company’s data science group. I serve as one of the four “leaders” of the group. In this role, I assist with scheduling logistics, group promotion, and making presentations myself.

Tidyverse Basics

  • Date: Sep. 21, 2017
  • Audience: Company data science group

I gave this presentation at the second ever meeting of the company’s internal data science group. After reading David Robinson’s Teach the Tidyverse to Beginners blog post, I urged the other leaders of the data science group to let me make a presentation about the tidyverse at one of our first meetings. Lo and behold, David himself found my presentation enjoyable–he promoted it in a tweet!

Logistic Regression Tutorial

  • Date: Nov. 14, 2017
  • Audience: Company data science group

I made this presentation in the group’s fourth meeting, as part of our ongoing discuss of machine learning methods using the An Introduction to Statistical Learning with Applications in R (ISLR) book as our guide.

Logistic Regression Problems

  • Date: Dec. 14, 2017
  • Audience: Company data science group

This presentation was not so much a “presentation”, but more of a live coding session. I worked through a couple of problem from Chapter 4 of the ISLR book in front of the audience.

Example Analysis of Using Machine Learning Techniques

NOTE: Unfortunately, I cannot share this presentation publicly due to the use of internal company data.

  • Date: March 14, 2018
  • Audience: Company data science group

In this presentation, I showed how one can use linear and logistic regression to gain insight into the Texas forward energy market. Notably, I used the flexdashboard package to create my “storyboard” presentation.
